Just a random thought

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

just reached home from doing rag..thinking about it..i sometimes wonder where i find the energy and time to do such stuff that many will consider a total waste of time..but seeing friends doing these stuff not for fame or glory but simply to upkeep the reputation of medical faculty makes me feel worth it to run the extra mile with them..

today had to listen to a teacher argue with me in Chinese..omg..im at a disadvantage la..haha..damn sian..then i suddenly had a phrase forming in my mind...

Stress is just a spice, it is NOT an ingredient in my life

so i should not even let it affect me by a lot..cos it's just a side spice not the main ingredient in my life..go on friends out that who are feeling stressed, fan or just simply so tired from all the stuff you have been busy with..you will survive together with me!

We having been having a lot of difficulties coming out with the 3rd issue of the Europe Adventures of Kiddykid Part III. Accidentally, we created a great interest in our readers but we promise to reduce the agony of waiting as much as we can. Thousand apologises to Marc and Dory who have been reminding us..

The trip begins with Kiddykid obtaining his free coffee from Cliff as he wins a bet of 1 Euro from him. Just a simple bet of calling the cashier on duty by her name. Cliff obviously doesnt know who he is messing with. Our first experience of the European countryside is really nice. The nice train ride with the scenery makes everyone feels so comfortable that I bet we lost all memories of Anatomy, Biochemisty and Physiology.

Then we found our way to Hotel Hartlwirt. It is incomparable to the previous cheapskate hostel. This place is heaven and definitely worth our money. Just look at Cliff and mine room. There's even a small living room attached where we have our nightly discussions of the next day. Shiok right?

Just when everyone got so excited about leaving the room, it rained cats and dogs and we spontanously decided to for our scheduled 'good' meal at the hotel's restaurant. Omg, it's the wrongest choice ever cos the food rocks pebbles and stones!

Look at this meat platter for two which I shared with Cliff..ultimately coolness, has all kinds of meat and stuff and it can definitely feed 4 people. Before that we had awesome hungarian beef soup which was very filling by itself (look at the empty bowls).

After all the great food, we realised that we cant finish it so we brought it up to the room. Then when Stacy was bathing, Cliff and I had an encounter of this huge giantic bee in our room flying a round. It was attracted to the light. Then we called Sangita in and she saw the bee and guess what she did? She closed our room door and lock herself in her room! omg..wat kinda friend..quick-minded kiddykid switched off the lights and left the room in darkness.. Next thing that we heard was 'splatz' then the lights came on again and we saw the bee did a nose-dive to the fries and died. Looks like Kiddykid saved the day but not the fries..but it's alright..without sacrifice there will be no victory!

Next day we went to Bad Purrnberg which is the oldest salt mine in the world and because of this salt mine, Salzburg was given its name. Salt became the main source of income for the city and we did slides in the 10 degrees mines.

That's me in the jumpsuit that they gave us. Cliff and I were the fastest sliders in our group..cool right?haha..we tasted brine that is 27% NaCl and yucks it sure is sour..I bought brine sweets as well which taste like sour plums.

We went to Hohensalzburg Fortress which has never fallen before in 900 years. Every king will refurnish the fortress and make it stronger and till today it still looks very magestic and powerful. The view was great.

Lastly we went to Mirabellplatz which is a palace built by the Archbishop for his wife (don't ask me how come he has a wife) it's like a damn big place and totally wasted on someone who doesnt like her husband but we had fun at the public performances over there. Then we went to the flea market and the shops around and I bought Mozart balls! A stupid name but it's the local traditional chocolate. Cost quite a bomb but it's quite nice.

Stay tuned to the next part of the adventures where Kiddykid ventures into Italy for the first time and everyone started to get paranoid about pickpockets and snatchthieves. In the first time in their trip, kiddykid has to wake up at 4am.

This is one of the most enjoyable camps i ever had for a real long time..i think it can be compared to the camp where i was CSM..i made many new friends, forged stronger friendship with others and had fun..my fellow ogls are one bunch of dedicated people..it has been some time since i saw and worked with people that are so dedicated for a simple cause of letting our juniors have fun and bond..

most imptly, the juniors in my OG are ultimately cool bunch of pple..that's how we end up winning! i was quite surprised..on the last day when there was 5 tribes left and 2 will be voted out... i was quite sure we will end up in top 3 but not at the top..really happy that this bunch of pple won..im starting to understand what lpl said to me..how we should try to use results to justify people's efforts..not everyone will win, not everyone will put in effort to win..some put in more while others put in less..it is up to us, the management to help as fairly as we can and to the best of ability to help the people under us justify their efforts..im glad Uraku won..

besides the fun-ness of the camp..the camp was filled with fan-ness as well..i would dare say that management of the camp was poor and planning was insufficient.. at least, that's what i see from an ogl point of view la..i dunno wat runs in the exco itself but i know on the whole, the running isn't the best that our batch can do..many times i feel quite frustrated and sian that some things are running that way..but i always try to rationalise what is happening and instead of bitching together with others i try to rationalise things out..i dunno why i can do that so well in this camp..maybe the more pple around me bitch and get frustrated, the more i feel the need to remain calm..kept telling myself that i came to the camp with only one main objective - let my juniors have fun and bond together as a OG.. the rest are just secondary..

Uraku rocks pebbles and stones

so so so so sorry for those of you who have been checking here regularly but part 3 of the europe adventures of kiddykid is facing certain difficulties that cannot be made known in such a public website..if u really must die die know the reason, look for me straight...haha...

anyway i just had a damn good game on saturday with my band of brothers..and i did lots of good shots and passes..think we are all improving soon..maybe one day we will start challenging more teams..haha..marcus's brother's team is the first and it was a good friend-making time as well..but too bad i had too little sleep after pre-camp if not i think i can play much longer..

today i dropped a girl during dance practice..it was the first time in my life that i didnt managed to catch someone during a stunt..feeling super super guilty about it..so guilty that i decided to go gym wih jayseelan, my new friend from dance..i tried my best to cushion her fall before she landed on the ground but even then she still landed on the ground..argh..i was half worried about her and half pissed with myself..shall exercise more now..must get fitter and stronger..no more girls shall slip thru my arms..

that sounds wrong..

Thanks to all for staying tuned to the second issue of Europe Adventures of Kiddykid..your great support helps to give us going..

From the last issue, Kiddykid and friends went on board the plane bound for Vienna, the capital of Austria..let's just say that the flight was uneventful besides him being able to get extra museli bars from the air stewardess (dinner was served with one uncle toby's cookies and cream), apparantly the air stewardess kept all the extra for herself so she shared her secret stash with Kiddykid.

As he arrives happily with his friends at Vienna airport, he was waiting for his turn at the passport counter where they examined his passport. When his turn came, the personnel-in-charge kept looking through his passport, she took out a magnifying glass and examined his photo and his passport details. She removed the passport from the passport cover and looked through it thoroughly. Just when Kiddykid thought that he was safe and sound, she called the immigration police. Can u believed that? She thought Kiddykid had a fake passport!!! Omg..

So the Kiddykid and friends were sent to the Immigration Office where the officers re-examined his passport, made photocopies of his passport, boarding pass, international student card. Half an hour was gone before they allowed them to pass through. When they finally got to the luggage area, some worker was about to push their luggage to the unclaimed baggage area.
Oh well, with the blessings from everyone, Kiddykid and friends made it to Vienna and checked into their lousy hotel, Blue Corridor which has been officially and unanimously voted by the group to be the lousiest hotel of the whole trip.

As they head for their first destination, they meet this guy in some cultural costume. This guy turns out to be a musical student who is out to con tourists as we found out later from a friend we met at the concert. Apparantly, he sells tickets at 20 plus euros for tourists to have a feel of the musical scene in Vienna itself. Although it was a tourist scam but it was a good one as most people who pay to listen to his concert were novices like us.

The concert had ballet, tango and some waltz dance and not to forget some drama ma-ma by the emcee and the funky musicians..it was quite a worthwhile concert for all of us..most of all, it was held in a normal high school in Vienna.
This is their courtyard..omg..dont u feel like studying there now? it is not a special music school or anything, its just a normal high school..this photo looks like its from harry potter movie or sth..look at the basketball courts..if i play bball there, i wont be so black already..well shaded from all angles and the weather so nice and cool..

Besides visiting tourist attractions that are too many to type here, Kiddykid and friends tried out this bar called Centimetre (which has been consistently been renamed by Stacy as Centipede)..
It is called Centimetre because they sell this pizza-like thing in centimetres..so basically u just tell them how many centimetres of what flavour you want. That's wat i ate, 15cm of 3 mixed chess and 15cm of some mixed meat thing which i cant remember. It's ultimately nice and quite cheap for its price as well.

Well, that's some of the interesting stuff that happened in Vienna. Stay tuned to the next issue where Kiddykid and friends move to Salzburg, Austria where they stayed at the 1st of the many wonderful hotels they chose. It is also there where they had their first good meal to celebrate their europe trip. Basically, they decided to have a good meal once in a while, spending a bit more money and stuff at alternate cities or so.

Something to catch in the next issue is about Kiddykid's battle with the evil bee in his room. Stay tuned..

June 18th, 2007

This is the 1st issue of Europe Adventures of Kiddykid..It is highly recommended by many magazines and journals all around the world..the 1st issue is said to be posted online where the number of possible viewers is so high until it cannot be estimated by even the best mathematicians in the world..

Europe Adventures of Kiddykid talks about Kiddykid which seems so obvious from the title..however, it is more than just him..it includes side stories of his friends and the strangers he encounter..both friendly and unfriendly..better make sure you are ready before you start reading..

Before every hero starts on his journey, he must make sure he has sufficient supplies such as the blue and red boxes of museli bars which will give him extra energy to overpower his enemies and conquer the lands of Europe..the Uno cards you see is to help the locals identify him as a fellow-countryman..confused? let me enlighten you.. 'Uno' means 'one' in Italian and with the brains of Kiddykid, he figured that that game was created by the Italians..

On the day of his departure from the all-familiar lands of Singapore, his OG-mates came along to send him off..to avoid unneccessary attention, he travelled on a 3am flight..so thanks to all who came to send him off..don't worry, he brought gifts back for you guys..hahah..In case, you have difficulty identifying the others in the presence of Kiddykid, he has labelled his friends..haha..

Just before Kiddykid leaves with his 3 friends, he took a photo..please take note of this 'before' photo and compare it to his 'after' photo at the end of this season..please send in your comments on the difference, 1 lucky winner will be notified personally to dine with him..the judges' decision is final by the way.. i meant judge..

And off Kiddykid goes to Vienna, Austria while stopping over at Doha where the last SEA games was held..stay tuned to the next issue where he shares about his adventures in Vienna..

One highlight: The whole Europe group was detained and went to the immigration office because of kiddykid...as a result, they spent about half an hour in the immigration office..stay tuned...

For all who wants a complete version of the story, please date Kiddykid on an individual basis, those who wants a complete photo album, please go to http://travel.webshots.com/album/559501166jJSaCw

Back In Action

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

TJL is back in action..i think..still feeling quite weak and tired all the time..but i shall go on..John and Stacy are falling sick too..hopefully everyone will recover and be in the best condition before the trip begins..here's a list of things to do for today, my first day back in proper action...
1. Research on Florence, Italy
2. Run-through Athens, Greece again
3. Consolidate my packing list

Hopefully, i can finish up the first 2 points before dinner..then i must start doing some accounting as well..money has been spent rather loosely so far..not much choice cos so far im spending on all the necessary stuff like train tickets, student pass, air tickets, domestic flight tickets and stuff..but need to calculate a bit to know how much free belt hooks im left with when im in europe..wouldnt want to come back penny-less..haha..

just now, i just watched an episode of grey's anatomy..its so interesting..its about a species of fish in the Amazon forest that swims up a guy's penis and got engorged in the prostatic urethra (basically, thats the most beginning part of your urethra, just after the bladder)..then they took an x-ray of it..its so farni..cos that guy is shaped like a giant sperm..the head and tail and everything..but around his neck, he has barbs that hooks onto whatever he is supposed to hook on..its a parasite as u can see..looking at those interns' lives really make me wonder if life will be like that for me in the future..haha..

Food poisoning

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
today i took my PDCP exam where they asked about how can doctors ever empathise with all his patients..stunned..dunno wat to write..but that was not the main thing im concerned with..at least at that point of time..

since yesterday im down with food poisoning..all thanks to that bowl of beancurd which i thought should be safe to eat..and here's a warning to all..if something expires tomorrow dont eat it..cos thats exactly what happened to my mum few weeks back and me yesterday...

anyway for those serious med pple out there..i had mild hypotension and signs of dehydration which are the greatest worries of food poisoning..because basically i was vomitting everything that i took in..so thats wat made that doctor worried and gave me an intra-muscular injection..and as we are so commonly familiar with..its at the outer quadrant of your butt..

anyway, things are getting better already so don't worry..getting my appetite back though my mum only allows me to take porridge..plain one..no soy sauce or anything..with only fish slices..i think that's the worse part of being sick..im missing hokkien mee from chomp chomp already..and i doubt i will get to eat it until i come back from europe..saddening yeah?

well..this has a few implications..i prob didnt do well for pdcp..and i cant meet my europe friends to discuss our stuff today..and i cant plan my italy part..luckily im done with greece..and i cant pack my stuff..and i cant go for meeting tml (actually that sounds good, oops) and i cant go observe the intra competition that i've been advising tml as well..haiz...

health and wellness can really affect a person a lot..and as what i wrote in my essay today..a good doctor must be able to empathise with his patients and also his family members..because when one person falls sick..its not just him..somehow it has an extended impact on his family members as well..

oh ya..fish left for europe today already..all the best! we'll exchange photos when we both get back k?

Last day of PDCP lessons..

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
today is the last day of PDCP lessons..finally..though interesting at certain parts..i find it quite a waste of time..haha..anyway, my tutor told us a story today that i think i will remember for quite some time..or maybe forever..i dunno...

there was this pair of good friends who are very close..study together and go out once in a while at a pretty regular basis..until one day..the girl told the guy that she likes him and wants to go beyond friends..then the guy was shocked and told the girl that he all along treated her as a sister/good friend..then the girl said, if u dun like me then why always get me presents and go out on movies with me and stuff?if u dun like me, i will kill myself..

Well..few years had passed..the girl committed suicide then and the guy has not gotten a girlfriend all this while..

Relationships

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Relationships..for those attached, cherish your loved one, for those single, cherish your friends and the one that has yet to come..

Friends have not been doing well for relationships these days..Some of them are quite long-lasting ones like those that survived the toughest part of army (i refer to that as the phase where that soldier is still a trainee), those who survived a levels, those who survived the release of girl-frenzy ORD-ed pple in uni..

Plus learning more about relationships and social behaviour these few days make me really doubt when i can really find one..most pple out there have a few impressions of Jian Li..some think 'he had so many girlfriends, no problem to get another one la' while others think 'he flirt so much, girls around him can be compared to the books he studies' while some rarer pple may think 'with his track records, he is like an ex-convict'

I remembered this line from some local movie/show, the judge gave me 3 years imprisonment, the society gave me the life sentence..

I dunno how you think but i dun really care..it's been some time since i have been with someone..kinda enjoy the carefree-ness of being alone i guess..no worries..and every cent i spend is on myself..kinda self-centred but i guess everyone has this kinda feeling once in a while..

but most importantly, seeing so many long relationships failing in front of me has made me wonder sometimes that maybe im better off alone or maybe my character and personality just doesn't allow me to find someone close next to me..and even if i really find someone i like, maybe she doesnt like me or maybe she's just as confused as me..

maybe i really lost it already..that bit xiao sa that i used to have..now i think a bit more than i would in the past..maybe i've seen more in life..maybe i haven't had a simple time in med or getting into med school..it wasnt easy for me to get into med school..now i have to worry about getting out..haha..last time i wont think so much about such things..maybe i will just think and just forget but its bugging me u know..like some leech that's stuck to my skin..sucking my life..

today we had to do a discussion of roles and identities that doctors and medical students have..a lot of those that we came up with were linked to our jobs..then she mentioned about pple who links so many identities to their jobs..when they lose the job, they lose their sense of identity..they lose their minds..usually they are single cos married men have other identities like husband and father..maybe that explains why im going crazy..haha..

Day at Settlers

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

today supposed to celebrate Erin's birthday but my OG had so much fun at Settlers' that we forgot all about it..damn mean la..in the end we bought her favourite Munckins and im supposed to give her tml..but it's a kung fu version la...looks quite farni though..haha..hope its as fun as the real thing..

today's lessons are qute boring and we spent some time going thru one of the past yea questions which is totally like a GP question la..

Is it necessary for us to change ourselves all the time in order to please others?

And it's not like some simple question where we say yes to a certain extent..we need to use some social constructionalists' theories to support our ideas..maybe other uni pple do it quite often as part of their arts module but this is sth new and definitely something i dun really like to do lor..

Goffman's theory is about everyone is an actor and we put on different masks and roles each time we go on stage with different people..but it doesnt mean that we are hypocrites but it just means that we will change ourselves to suit our social surroundings..and lots of more of this crap...

but meanwhile, im kinda excited about the europe trip but also a bit sians in that i have done much preparation for it..think i gonna start tonight if not i will be dead meat soon..haha..still need to prep for meeting on saturday and the internal competition on sat as well..and not to forget the selection of new members to represent us in competitions..oh wells..i really hope i can just throw everything aside when i go europe..

First day at PDCP

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

today i went back to school for lessons..kinda weird to go back after so much fun but it was even more fun to meet up with classmates and updating each other on our lives..it really seemed like everyone's been having lotsa of fun after the exams..and i cant help but remember the quote 'work hard, play harder'

anyway, today went for dinner with jialun, chiara and hweeying..it was a double councillor-councillee date and it was super fun..we went to waruku...another burn in my wallet just before my europe trip..im kinda worried for my finances now..decided to start monitoring my europe spending..then we went around trying to hunt for an espirit outlet for chiara and met so many ex-rj pple..their seniors bascially and i just go around shaking hands and trying to catch everyone's names..haha..quite funny...

most imptly, i was looking around for my bag..then i realised that great singapore sale is coming soon..yeah..plus my dad seem pretty comfortable with me spending about 100 bucks on a leather bag..omg..i cant believe myself when i asked him to help me repair my old bag..sometimes he really knows how to surprise pple..haha..but even then, he mentioned nothing about sponsoring la..but nvm..maybe i can get a nice bag from europe..i have so many things i need to buy at europe..getting a bit worried about expenses cos i locked most of my cash in fixed deposits with my parents..

I shall try some poll thing and see how it goes..
